COMMUNITY HELP FOR REAL FAMILY COSTS

Small practical problems can become big barriers.

Travel to contact. Food on a long appointment day. Somewhere safe to sleep. A paid facilitator. A train ticket to see your child. AT THE CODE Family Support is building a community pot to help cover approved costs when families need practical support.

Operated by a UK sole trader. AT THE CODE Family Support is not a registered charity.

WHY THIS EXISTS

Sometimes the barrier isn't willingness. It's the cost of getting there.

Travel

Train, bus and approved licensed taxi/Uber costs for contact, social-work meetings, assessments and other important appointments.

Food

Food or restricted vouchers for parents and children during long travel, contact and appointment days.

A safe bed

Approved hotel accommodation where distance or circumstances make same-day travel unrealistic.

Family contact

Safe handovers, approved venues, one appropriate activity and practical items needed for meaningful family time.

Paid facilitators

Facilitators are paid for their work, preparation, notes and reasonable work-related travel expenses.

Other barriers

Approved essentials directly connected to maintaining family relationships or participating in children’s-services arrangements.

FAMILY APPEALS

Families can tell us the problem. We can ask the community to help solve it.

Approved family stories can be published anonymously. We remove identifying information before anything goes public. Families do not automatically receive cash.

EXAMPLE OF HOW AN APPEAL WILL LOOK

Family 001 · South East

A parent needs help with return train travel, food during a long contact day and local transport to the agreed contact venue.

Needed£94

When an approved need is funded, AT THE CODE will normally buy the ticket, book the hotel/service or provide an appropriate restricted voucher. Direct cash is reserved for exceptional approved circumstances.

ASK FOR SUPPORT

Tell us what's getting in the way.

Your first enquiry should be brief. Do not send children's full names, addresses, school names, case numbers or full court/social-work documents.

Support is subject to checks, available community funding and relevant arrangements. We will not knowingly fund something that conflicts with a court order, injunction, local-authority plan or safeguarding restriction.

HOW COMMUNITY MONEY IS USED

We pay for the need — not just hand out the pot.

Where another organisation is already responsible for a cost, we should try that route first so community money fills genuine gaps rather than replacing existing support.

THE LONG-TERM VISION

The first AT THE CODE Family House.

After proving the support network, the aim is to purchase and renovate a permanent property where families can spend safe, ordinary, meaningful time together.

The property may include a completely separate private residential area for the founder's family, helping reduce ongoing operating costs. This will be disclosed to property-fund donors and kept separate from public family-support areas.

Contribute to Family House

Safety, dignity and privacy come first.

Public family appeals are moderated. Identifying details are removed. A family's story is not automatically published just because they apply. Appropriate vetting, references and safeguarding processes will be used for facilitators, and a DBS certificate alone is not treated as proof of suitability.
